The Siwandu camp is located in Nyerere National Park, which is the largest and oldest national park found in Africa (formerly the Selous Game Reserve).

The Siwandu camp can be reached by light aircraft - around 45 minutes from Dar es Salam - or by 4 x 4 vehicle - around 1h20 from Jongomero.

Siwandu was the first camp to be built in the Nyerere. Even royal guests, both past and present, have experienced its majestic charm.

If Jongomero is unique thanks to its special location and exclusive safari opportunities, Siwandu is a different style of habitat that is equally charming. It also offers another exceptional safari experience. That is, the boat safari and all about the water experiences.

During a boat safari, you can discover aquatic fauna alongside lakes and rivers that are home to a large concentration of crocodiles, hippos, elephants, waterbirds, and more.

Nyerere has over 2,100 species of plants, in excess of 400 varieties of birds, more than half of Tanzania’s elephant population and over 120,000 buffalos. The Park's 40,000 hippo and 4,000 lion are probably the largest populations on the continent; not to mention the fact that it is home to the planet’s largest population of rare wild dogs. This resplendence gives guests a rare opportunity to glimpse all of these animals in truly unspoilt landscape.
